Bitfinex Margin Trading, COVID-19 Country Data, Cancel all Alerts
Read this on the Cryptowatch Changelog. Cryptowatch has introduced margin trading for all Bitfinex pairs that support leverage. We've updated our alerts service, adding a Cancel all feature that lets you clear alerts across all markets. On our COVID-19 tracker, you can now sort all data by country, view the chart with either a linear or logarithmic axis, and switch between daily and total data. The Cryptowatch Marketing team also recently posted a comprehensive reading list from our very own The Dude, who spent over a decade yelling and screaming in the NYMEX and COMEX trading pits, as well as an interview with @lowstrife and a report on Bitcoin spot market growth.

Questions about Bitfinex margin trading and the Bitcoin upcoming split.
I have 2 Bitcoins that I'm using to trade on margin at Bitfinex. Currently I bought 4 Bitcoins on margin (Long bitcoin) 1 - Does this mean I'm trading with 2 and I took a loan of another 2? or I'm taking a loan of 4 and keeping my 2 as a hedge? 2 - What's funding rate am I paying for this loan? 3 - Am I considered that I took a loan of 2 BTC? or I took a loan USD and them converted them to BTC? 4 - Regarding the upcoming Bitcoin split, Bitfinex says: "Users that are financed long BTC/USD or short any BTC trading pair will receive B2X." does this mean that I'll be receiving 4 extra B2X since I'm long (on margin) with 4 Bitcoins?
Question regarding Bitfinex Margin Trading and US Customers.
Lately I've been trading via BTC instead of USD, I'm in America.. I haven't confirmed that I live here whenever it asks btw. Does the US crackdown on US residents matter to those using BTC to trade?
Can someone answer a question to me on bitfinex margin trading?
Lets say i'm in a long position at $340 with 3 BTC which i have borrowed (leverage) and the price goes against me, what will happen in this case? Do i need to have USD in my account to pay it back if it hits my stop loss? and is there such thing as a margin call?
I might be missing something but it doesn't seem like I can trade using margin on Bitfinex through cryptowatch. Next to leverage it just says "none" with no other options. This happens when funds are in the margin wallet.
Hi everyone. Newbie questions about Bitfinex Margin Trading (just opened account; previously used Kraken): Say I want to open long position on BTCUSD;
How do I select the leverage I want (1/2/3)? I don't see this option anywhere.
What the two checkboxes, "Include variable rates" and "Maximum margin rate", are doing? (I was expecting that unchecking the "Maximum margin rate" it would giving me the option to select a specific leverage, but this doesn't seem to be the case.)
Also, what is the "%/day", which is by default "0.75"? (If I write "0" there, what does this mean?)
The fees/costs are different according the leverage? (In Kraken I don't see any difference at all.)
Say that for the first time I want to open a long position with 1:1 leverage. Thanks
First of all thank you for any relevant comments to my questions related to Bitfinex Margin Trading. I have been trading BTC at Bitstamp for some time and I am considering moving part of my funds to Bitfinex to be able to short BTC. I have read thoroughly their website and FAQ plus google some unaswered questions but I am still in doubts related to following topics: Sorry for asking out here but I posted my questions to Bitfinex support and there is no feedback for 5 days yet.... :( Let us assume I will put 1000 USD on trading account and set Leverage 2:1. My tradable balance would be 2000 USD if I am right. Let us assume 1 BTC price = 100 USD My questions: 1.What does the Margin Requirement of 10% and Required Margin at Bitfinex means ? What is the difference ? 2.If I go long with 15 BTC for 100 USD = 1500 USD (still within Leverage) and price of BTC goes up to 150 USD. Will my profit be 50 USD*15 BTC - Bitfinex fees - Used swap fees ? 3.On the other hand if price goes down to 50 USD for 1 BTC do I lose 50 USD*15 BTC from my actual trading wallet is that right ? When I get margin call and my position will be force closed in this example ? 4.Is it possible on bitfinex to purchase swap when interest rate are low in advance even when I do not open trading positions and will I pay fees for every hour when I do so or only when the swap is used to cover opened position ? 5.Alternatively if i use free funds on deposit wallet to offer swap and it will be accepted do i only get payment for time it is used in opened position for trading ? What they mean by ? "Unused swaps are swaps you provided that were not used in a margin position. They give you a minimum of 1 hour of return." So if anyone accepts my swap for 2 days but do not use it at all for open position will I only get 1 hour interest but I will be forced to keep it provided for 2 days or the payment of interets will be for 2 days regardless of using in active open position ? Thank you so much for any relevant input and clarification. i really hope this will help anyone considering trading at Bitfinex as their webpage and forum is really not informative at all Have a nice weekend guys IcemanSVK

I understand I must use swaps to open position. Do I need to purchase swaps all the time even I have have enough balance on my trading account. In my example if I go long for only 1 BTC and I have 1000 USD in my trading wallet will I be still subject to purchase of swaps and paying interest for it ?
I really do not understand how they handle fees at Bitfinex and what is difference between maker and taker fees. When I will be placing my Buy orders with limit orders below market price or my sell orders with limit price above current market price will I be always charged only lower Maker fees or it is not true ?
Is it possible on bitfinex to purchase swap when interest rate are low in advance even when I do not open trading positions and will I pay fees for every hour when I do so or only when the swap is used to cover opened position ?

I have bought 0.1 btc for $479.41 on bitfinex with a margin buy and i think i lost this position, now there are 2 options close & claim, what does each mean?
Hello, New to bitfinex, if I open a margin trade is there a certain time limit I have to close it by? I went long and it says the liquidation price is $91. So I can keep this open forever as long as the price doesn't fall to $91? There's also a swap type. Daily vs Term? Does this mean I have to close my trade by the end of the day?
Hi there, I'm not sure this is the right place but as there are many users using this Exchange to trade and also have to report their gains for taxes, I thought it could be ok to post it. Otherwise, just bad luck for me, I'll try to get answers somewhere else :) Question is simple: I used Bitfinex for around a year and used Margin trading a lot. The issue is that if I export the trades list from my history it just shows the actual buy/sell and fees. But with margin trading and the multiple wallet system, there is more happening. Especially the settlements. I have multiple thousand of trades, mostly on BTC but that doesn't matter. If I opened a long and sold at loss (let say a loss of $500) then this -500 is removed automatically from my wallet, this isn't a trade, it's like just removed by Bitfinex. Also the margin fees (borrowing fees) can get quite high over time and they do not appear (correct me if I'm wrong of course) in the trade list. Let say I have a long opened for 5 days with ~$2 margin fees per day. Those will be also removed from my wallet in the ledger. So, is there anyone here who managed to do it in a "simple" way? I wanted to use Cointracking but they admitted to me via email that they can't manage Bitfinex margin trades because on how Bitfinex works (via API or CSV it doesn't matter, they just can't deal with it) I know that in the ledger of each coin and USD, there are all details, but it's just a big mess to sort out. So yeah, if anyone found out a simple way to export the data to calculate those gain and losses, I'll take it Thanks
