How do you recover?

So, I'm currently down $110K in principal losses from my February 2019 portfolio in cryptocurrency (altcoins). Yes, in hindsight, I should not have invested in crypto during this extended bear market. I never imagined that I would be in the situation after recovering from significant losses in the 2018 crypto collapse. I have not been able to perform well at work. I used to be so functional: positive attitude, high-performing employee, very social with people, physically active in the gym, slept like a baby, etc. Today, I am completely broken. I find myself significantly more introverted and recluse since I have consistently remained in the red. I have not talked to any family or friends about my $110K losses because I am too embarrassed, equating myself to a rapist or murderer because I feel so bad about it. I just don't know how to recover. I live miserably like a Communist hoping that I will soon recover my losses but it feels so hopeless. I understand life goes on but I don't really have the means to find solutions to cope with this problem other than drinking a lot and shifting among mundane hobbies. The sad reality of my state is due to the fact that I didn't have much else going for me other than my investment (single, not married, not many people I'd call friends, no church involvement, nothing). Had I been aware that my entire life would collapse with an investment gone terribly wrong, I would have never invested.
Anybody whose been in this boat, how did you recover? I feel embarrassed enough talking about it anonymously on Reddit but it is my only avenue. Plus arrows for all responses. *********************************************************************************
ADDED 06-24-2020: I really do appreciate all of this ONPOURING OF SUPPORT. I honestly didn't think anybody was going to read my message nor did I think I was going to get such positive support. But, this is incredibly uplifting, renewing my faith in humanity (and to a lesser extent reddit). I am reading every message. I do hope that my experience serves as a lesson to others. I was recently looking at the story about 20 yr old Alex Kearns who killed himself after amassing $730K of debts related to options trading on Robinhood. I do understand that I have to get a grip and put things intro perspective since I did not murder anybody or commit a crime. The money that I invested was money I could afford to lose (as hard as it is to say that) since I don't have kids, don't have a car payment and my debt to income ratio is virtually nonexistent. I didn't borrow money from family or take a bank loan, that was all my hard-earned money I lost. There is comfort in that regard that I invested responsibly by using my own capital. I am not one to feel sorry for myself or claim depression (even if I am). I never imagined the 2008 recession still impacting me 12 years later, forever changing my spending habits and state of financial security. If there is one lesson to be learned from my failures, likewise the idiom "don't put all your eggs in one basket", don't put your entire life in one basket. Don't save nearly all your money for 10 years like I did holding back life experiences, just to lose it all in one bad investment. I could have got married, could have had kids, could have traveled, could have LIVED...but instead I was saving every penny incapable of getting out of the financial insecurities , obsessed with financial longevity and survival. I was living like an oppressed citizen of a Communist regime and I didn't even know it. Never put your life on hold for anything. Good luck to you all and thank you for the support!

The Different Types of Crypto Wallets

Cryptocurrency wallet is a set of private and public keys that validates the ownership of a digital asset (e.g. Bitcoin), and allows the wallet owner to send and receive digital assets or even store them. There are several types of wallets that can store your crypto holdings, some more secure than other, some are easily accessible and some are dedicated to certain assets. There are two types of wallets, Hot wallets and Cold wallets. The hot wallets are connected to the internet which makes transfers of coins and tokens faster and on hand, yet are more susceptible to viruses and hackers. The cold wallet refers to the cryptocurrency wallets that are offline. Generally cold storage is more secure, but are limited to a selection of coins and tokens you can store.
Software Wallets
Software wallets, as the name suggests, are downloaded and installed on desktops and laptops; they reside on a desktop which can only be accessed on that device where they are installed. They do provide a good level of security but many things could happen to your device, such as viruses or a hardware issue which could deny you access to the wallet, so its recommended to export your wallet private keys and store your login and password on a USB stick or on another device. You can re-install the software on a new device and use your login/password along with the exported private keys to access your funds. One of the most popular software wallets available for free is Exodus were you can store over a 100 cryptocurrency assets.
Paper Wallets
One of the first crypto wallets 1st used in the early 2010s which contains your wallet address, private keys and a QR code representing these keys, which eases the transfer and receiving of coins or tokens. Rather than typing each letter and number of the address which could be hectic, one can just scan the QR code and request or receive the asset. Paper wallets ensure security by preventing your private keys from being exposed online upon creation as its stored physically and not on a computer or online. Theoretically it is strong but physically it is weak, it’s great to have a free wallet that never exposes your private keys online at any point. A paper wallet is not made from a strong and durable material such as metal or plastic, paper can easily tear, burn, the print can fade away from sun exposer, it can get wet and even get lost. Therefore, many have considered this option of the past and are utilizing other safer options to store their cryptos. Here you can create your own paper wallet via the wallet generator.
Mobile/App Wallet
Mobile wallets are considered to be the most popular and commonly used type of wallets; they are apps installed on mobile devices and their main advantage is the swift accessibility to funds. Accessing a bunch of features such as sending, receiving, storing, spending. The user-friendly mobile wallet app like has multiple services built-ins, you can do all the functions mentioned above, and you also have the option to stake your cryptos and earn profit, you can buy and trade cryptos to add to your existing portfolio at low fees and even request for a loan.
Many upcoming coins and tokens have used 3rd party wallets to store their coins or even have no supported wallets at the early stage which makes them fully dependent of exchanges to store their coins or tokens. Solid crypto projects typically build their own wallets at an early stage; during or post (ICO, IEO, public and private sale) when they distribute their coins/tokens to users. iOWNX is one of the projects that built a dedicated wallet where you can store both Ethereum and iOWN Tokens with several security measures to protect your assets. You can install the wallet app on both Apple and Android for free.
Hardware Wallet
Known as a “Cold Wallet” which is a physical device and considered to be the safest wallet. Hardware wallet securely stores your private and public keys and typically looks like a USB drive and is resistant to computer viruses. Long term crypto holders prefer a cold wallet as it remains offline most of the time. The wallets are made of metal and hard plastic with an input screen to insert your pin number and in case you lose the device, you can purchase another one and insert your 24-paraphrases known as seed key which was created on your previous device, and access your funds. There are several hardware wallets available in the market; the 2 most popular ones are the Nano Ledger that sell devices from $36 to $148 and the Trezor Wallet which goes for around the same price bracket.
Exchange Wallets
Exchange wallets access blockchain through a browser interface without having to download or install any software. The advantage of the exchange wallets is the ease of accessibility to funds if you are an active trader and require direct access to your funds to be able to trade, rather than transferring coins and tokens from a different wallet which could take some time and fees that disables you to instantly trade at a certain price. The downside of storing your cryptos on an exchange wallet is that some service providers hold and manage the wallet’s private keys on your behalf. Although this may sound more convenient for inexperienced users, it is surely not the best practice. When using cryptocurrency exchanges, you should consider that they provide a high security feature and protection tools such as device management, multi-factor authentication, anti-phishing code, and withdrawal address management. It is highly recommended to store the majority of your coins and tokens in a safer wallet and keep some on the exchange for trading purposes.
There are many types of wallets to choose from to securely store your cryptocurrencies, yet there is not a perfect wallet in existence. Your personal needs and requirements will ultimately guide you to the type of wallets that fits your need. If you are looking for a quick “send and receive” in a few taps then mobile app wallets could be an option. If you are more of a “hodler” and believe in long term store value then Hardware wallets could be the wallet for you. Presuming that you are a swing or an active crypto trader which requires your funds to be available on demand, then storing it on trading platforms and exchanges is convenient, as you can trade your coin or tokens for others and vice versa, instantly without the need to transfer, send and unlocking wallets to access your funds (which requires a bit of time and gas fees).
We hope that you found this guide helpful and that you will be able to find the right crypto wallet that fits your requirement. For more information, you can check out our video “Intro to Crypto Wallets“ which covers in details all types of wallets.

Multiple Fs / Left for a semester on Academic Probation / Reinvented myself in postgrad

Hey everyone. This is my first time posting. I'm trying to make a school list to apply next cycle, but I'm having trouble coming up with schools given my lackluster undergrad gpa and history of bad academic performance. Here is an outline of my application:
Basic Info:
I'm concerned with is my very poor GPA yet high MCAT. It's difficult creating a school list without feeling as if I'll be auto-filtered because of the GPA. I've also heard schools who take lower GPAs also filter out high MCATs for yield reasons. Can anyone help make a school list or perhaps suggest anything I need to change or add on my application?
Edit: I still have some time before the next cycle. Any suggestions to improve the app is appreciated!

Struggling (but REALLY wanting) to accept the idea that ADHD is the source of my inability to function like a real person.

Hey y'all. I'm so happy to be here. Warning, this whole thing got pretty long. Before I dive in, here's a quick intro, feel free to skip... I have not been officially diagnosed, but a therapist I was seeing for severe anxiety a few years back suggested that I might have ADHD. I didnt know anything about the condition then so I thought nothing of it because I was so focused on the anxiety, but I have since done much more reading and had some deep talks with others whom I trust who have the condition. I am quite sure that I have ADHD, and I have a doctor's visit scheduled to confirm and hopefully start a low dose of medication soon. Moving on.
I'm 23(m), married, 2 dogs, highschool and college dropout, and am currently working as a marketing & creative director at a waterproof tech company. So, that is all to say that my life is not "bad" pre se. In fact, I have managed to duct tape and superglue together a life that I am ultimately very proud of... I really love it when I look at it broadly.
It all falls apart when you look more closely. I'm sitting next to the last pieces of a pile of clean laundry that has been in our dining nook for almost a month. I just got back inside from mowing my back lawn with a weed whacker because it got so long that a mower wouldnt cut it. My wife thinks I don't care about her basic needs enough to do the dishes or brush my teeth. The sink always has dishes in it, and I wear flip flops around my house because I cannot manage to keep my non-carpeted floors clean enough to not drive me nuts with a dusty gritty feeling.
I am horrible at being "thoughtful", and all of my life I've been told by people close to me that I just don't put in enough effort. This has been a real problem in my marriage. I don't surprise her enough, I don't remember enough things, I don't clean enough. My mom always scolded me when I was a kid for being lazy and because I was (am) only good at doing things that I want to do. I am very very good at doing things that I want to do. I started an ecommerce business with an original product at 19 years old, and did that full time until I was offered my current position in summer 2019. My current job is very flexible, and my boss is incredible. Absolute Godsend.
Here's the thing. I want so badly to live a "together" life. 95% of my friends are at least 5 years older than me, many are in their mid-late 30's or early 40's. My two best friends are a doctor and a nuclear physicist. That is to say, I have surrounded myself with people who are willing and able to offer a lot of wisdom, support, and patience. They also set a pretty high bar. I have a lot of examples of people at least keeping a clean house and a mowed yard. But that literally seems impossible for me. Im not jealous or intimidated by the professional achievements of my friends. I'm jealous and intimidated by their cut grass and folded laundry. Starting a business, spending literally 10's of thousands of dollars in loans in start up costs? Easy for me. Day trading high risk cryptocurrencies? Easy for me. Dishes? Mountain of stress, anxiety, shame and guilt. It is impossible for me to stay on top of basic things.
It seems so strange to me that, despite my ambition, capability, and ability to focus on things that engage me, the biggest accomplishment of my life to date would be for me to manage to keep a house looking decent for 7 days in a row.
I have begun keeping a bullet journal, which I have found particularly helpful for remote project management. But it doesnt help me that much with chores because I just don't have the motivation to do it, even ir I really want to have the motivation. And it isn't for lack of trying, or even lack of wanting. I long to be proud of the simple stuff. Instead, I feel lazy. I feel selfish. I've been convinced of those things by my actions and the words of others who have been affected by my actions.
And the worst part is because there are areas of my life that, ESPECIALLY from the outside seem pretty awesome, I feel like a weak, entitled, deluded jerk to be complaining about not doing chores. I really think that even my wife, mother, or friends have a very hard time comprehending the idea that I'm anything more than lazy, selfish, or unwilling to do those basic life things. As I've immersed myself in the ADHD community, I've begun to finally have a resource for explaining to people why I might behave this way, but it still kills me.
Do you all relate to this? How do you deal with the motivation wall? How much have meds helped with getting those things done?
Thanks everyone!!! ❤❤❤

I love helping people figure stuff out and I'm really really bored!

Reiterated at the end of the post, I feel I should add this to the top to provide context:
My remaining grandparents recently passed.
My ultimate goal in doing this (aside from to alleviate boredom) is to help somebody who doesn't have the modern-tech-savvy aid that my grands did.
That said,

are you.....

I am NOT a professional

I might even know less about your topic than you do!
I will - of course - try my best to only offer good advice, but cannot be legally responsible if you break something

Just bored, social-distancing, & looking to pass time + help out!

I work on cars myself and worked as a parts distributer and labor jockey
I work with raspberry pi's and build computers for fun
I enjoy jailbreak-novelties and internet freedom projects
I research and trade cryptocurrency for fun
Lots of other stuff!

Directly message me here, or on Instagram (@jax.pdx) and I will give you my personal phone number! I'll ask some questions, and let you know whether or not I can realistically assist you :)

FOR THOSE WONDERING: Why am I doing this?

My last remaining grandfather and grandmother just passed away this year, and I really enjoyed helping them learn how to use their iPhones, or writing out instructions on how to use their TV, etc.
I loved and miss them very much. As I put in the intro of this post, I want to be an aid to really anyone who needs it. Even if it's just someone to talk to, honestly. I've been through my share of hard times.

Why should Traders use Crypto Derivatives as part of their Portfolio?

Derivatives have been around for thousands of years but originally started with rate routes. Today Traders use Derivatives in Financial Markets with several ways numerous instruments. Investors typically use Derivatives to hedge a position, to increase leverage or to speculate asset's movement. For instance, 1. Hedging Risk, since the value of the Derivative, is linked to the value of the underlying asset, these contracts are primarily used for hedging risks. For example, you buy a Bitcoin Put option to protect your portfolio against decline. You make money if BTC rises or lose money if BTC falls because you have the right to sell your BTC at a guaranteed price. 2 Speculation. You can speculate on the short term movement of markets by using Futures and Options. 3. Leverage. You don't have to pay the full Traded value, you can purchase the asset by just paying the percentage of the total traded value, called the 'margin', making the return on capital more attractive.
This was the short intro of Why Derivatives Trading is better but the big question is how can a Trader trade Cryptocurrency Derivatives?
Well, there are many Exchanges like FTX, Delta Exchange, Deribit, Bybit on which Traders can Trade Crypto Derivatives. But before Trading on any random Exchange, I would suggest all Traders to check whether the Exchange is legit or not, check the team's history, check whether Exchange has enough liquidity or not, how quick they are in solving users' problems, etc. This is hard but the most important part.
I've been Trading Crypto Derivatives for the last 2 years and have used multiple Derivatives Exchanges, and out of all those Exchanges, I like Delta and Deribit as they're pretty easy and simple to use. Delta has 30+ alts on its platform and allows Traders to Trade Move Contracts which no other Derivatives Exchange offers currently + it provides high liquidity comparatively other Exchanges. Also, Deribit is another Exchange I use sometimes.

[LONG] My Story of Disillusionment with and Disappointment in the World and Myself

This might be a long one. I hope someone reads the thing, I put like 3 hours into writing it. A brief story of my life and how it all led up to this moment, where I am disillusioned with my self-image, my life choices, and certain aspects of the world, and have no idea what to do next. Warning: this whole thing might be a little depressing to read.
I am a 20yo Russian male. During my childhood, I was made to believe that I am capable of doing something great and doing better than anyone. At the same time I developed a very non-conformist life stance and very often rejected things and ideas simply because they were too popular for my taste, and I couldn't feel special whilst enjoying them. Of course, in turn, society rejected me, as it does with anyone who doesn't play by the rules. Oh well.
My only redeeming quality was that I considered myself pretty smart. Which is even easier to assume, when at the same time you think that you're different from everyone else. Now, I know that to some extent, I was indeed smarter than most people in certain areas. Unlike most people I knew back then, often with bare minimum efforts I was able to maintain near perfect grades at school. I was also enjoying learning new things and reading more than an average person. So, let's just say, I had a basis to assume I was a smart dude.
I wasn't happy and content with my life, though. I never had real friends, because I only hung out with people when they were my classmates/roommates/co-workers, and after we parted ways, I rarely if ever contacted them afterwards. I always enjoyed doing things you usually do in solitude more, because when I was alone, I wouldn't be afraid that someone could hurt me for being different. Because of that, I was never in a romantic relationship.
High School.
Still, life was going okay. By the end of school, I kind of accepted my social deficiency and I wanted to focus on improving the world and become a successful person - for myself. I was facing a dilemma, though. Despite the fact that I was doing great in school, the idea of having to invest four years of my time into studying something really specific, and then having to work another 20-30 years on the same job was terrifying, because I had no idea what I liked to do! Nothing seemed interesting to me, I didn't have a passion for doing anything... Thanks to my video game addiction, which made me lazy as fuck, probably. I also needed to meet my criteria for success with my future job, which included being financially successful. I grew up in top 1% income family, so... I always felt the pressure to outperform or at least match my parents' income.
Enter trading. My dad discovered investing several years ago (we don't live in US, so most of the people aren't as financially savvy, so he never thought about investing before then). I was always curious about financial independence and markets, but now I was seeing it all done in front of me, I realized that it might be a good opportunity to make a lot of money and become successful without being socially adept, which is something absolutely required in business or politics. So, I asked my father to open a brokerage account for me in the US, and started swing trading (trading in weekly/monthly time frames). I could only trade slow and small because of the trade restrictions put on accounts <$25k and <21yo in the US. Still, it was going well, but in hindsight I was just lucky to be there during a great bull market.
Even before I thought trading and more importantly investing were the ways smart people make money. I thought simply because I was conventionally smart, I had a talent or an innate ability to pick innovative stocks and do venture investing when I grow some capital. I truly believed in that long before I was introduced to financial markets, I believed that my surface level understanding of multiple areas of cutting edge and emerging technology would give me an edge compared to all the other investors.
US Community College and Return Back.
In the end, I've decided I want to go to a US community college and study finance and become a trader and later an investor, but I didn't want to work for a fund or something like that (lazy ass). I wanted to use my knowledge and skill and my own money to grow my net worth and make a living. I didn't really like the process of trading, I just needed the money to live by while I was trying to figure out what else to do with my life. Because I thought I were smart, I thought this would come easily to me. Boy was I wrong. From the nicest of conditions in my hometown, I was suddenly moved into a foreign setting, on the other side of the planet away form my family and mates, with a video game addiction and laziness that ruined my daily routine and studying as well. The fact that I didn't like my major was not helping. My grades fell from A- in the first quarter to C+ in the last. I gained +30% from my normal weight. I was stressed out, not going outside and sitting at my computer desk for days at a time, skipping all the classes I could if they were not absolutely essential for my grades, living on prepared foods. I never got out of my shell and barely talked to anyone in English, all of my friends were Russian speaking. I wasted an opportunity to improve my speaking, although aside from that my English skills satisfy me.
By the end of community college, last summer, I was left with B grades that wouldn't let me transfer anywhere decent, and the extreme stress that I put myself through started taking a toll on my mental health. I was planning to take a break and go back to Russia for several months, and transfer back to a US uni this winter. Needless to say, you can't run from yourself. It didn't really become much better after a few months in Russia. I didn't want to study finance anymore, because it was boring and I was exhausted. I still had the video game addiction, still was lazy and gained some more extra pounds of weight. I was not sleeping at all, extremely sleep deprived for months. Because of this and lack of mental stimulation I started to become dumber. And all that was happening where I didn't really have to do anything: not study or work, just sit around the house and do whatever I wanted. Turns out, these conditions didn't help me to get out of the incoming depression.
Finally, around November, when I already sent out all of my transfer applications and already got some positive answers from several universities, I knew I didn't have much time left at home, and I had to leave soon. But I really, really didn't want to go back. It was scarier than the first time. I was afraid of new changes, I just wanted for the time to stop and letting me relax, heal... I was having suicidal thoughts and talked about it with my family and my therapist. They were all supportive and helped me as much as they could. But I was the only person who could really help myself. If I wanted to breathe freely, I had to admit defeat and not go back to the US to continue my education. It was extremely hard at first, but then I just let go. I decided to find a temporary job as an English tutor and give myself time to think. Then I remembered that I had a bunch of money in my trading account. I still thought that I was pretty smart, despite failing college, so I figured, why not try move it to Russian brokers who don't have trading restrictions, and do it full time? Which is exactly what I did. And I started to study trading all by myself at a fast pace. I was now trading full time and it was going sideways: +10% in December, -20% in January. Then, something incredible happened. I was already in a shitty place in life, but I still had some hope for my future. Things were about to get much worse. I'm in the late January, and I discovered for myself that the whole financial industry of the world was a fraud.
Brief Explanation of My Discoveries.
In the image of the financial industry, there are several levels of perceived credibility.
In the bottom tier, there is pure gambling. In my country, there were periods when binary options trading and unreliable Forex brokers were popular among common folk, but these were obvious and unsophisticated fraudsters who were one step away from being prosecuted. There are also cryptocurrencies that don't hold any value and are also used only for speculation/redistribution of wealth. There is also a wonderful gambling subreddit wallstreetbets where most users don't even try to hide the fact that what they are doing is pure gambling. I love it. But the thing is, this is trading/investing for the people who have no idea what it is, and most people discredit it as a fraud, which it, indeed, is. These examples are 99% marketing/public image and 1% finance. But these offer x10-1000 returns in the shortest time span. Typical get-rich-quick schemes, but they attract attention.
Then, there is trading tier. You can have multiple sub levels here, in the bottom of this tier we would probably have complex technical analysis (indicators) and daily trading/scalping. I was doing this in the DecembeJanuary. At the top would be people who do fundamental analysis (study financial reports) and position trade (monthly time frames). Now, there is constant debate in the trading community whether technical analysis or fundamental analysis is better. I have a solid answer to the question. They work in the same way. Or rather, they don't work at all.
You'd ask: "Why you didn't discover this earlier? You were in this financial thing for several years now!" Well, you see, unlike on the previous level, here millions of people say that they actually believe trading works and there is a way to use the available tools to have great returns. Some of these people actually know that trading doesn't work, but they benefit from other traders believing in it, because they can sell them courses or take brokerage fees from them. Still, when there are millions around you telling you that it works, even a non-conformist like me would budge. Not that many people actually participate in the markets, so I thought that by being in this minority made me smart and protected from fraudsters. Lol. All it took for me to discover the truth is to accidentally discover that some technical indicators give random results, do a few google searches, reach some scientific studies which are freely available and prove that technical and fundamental analysis don't work. It was always in front of me, but the fucking trading community plugged my ears and closed my eyes shut so I wasn't able to see it. Trading usually promises 3-15% gain a month.
A huge shock, but surely there was still a way for me to work this out? Active investing it is!
The next level, active investing, is different from trading. You aim for 15-50% yearly returns, but you don't have to do as much work. You hold on to stocks of your choice for years at a time, once in a while you study the markets, re balance your portfolio, etc. Or you invest your money in a fund, that will select the stocks of their choice and manage their and your portfolio for you. For a small fee of course. All of these actions are aimed at trying to outperform the gain the market made as a whole, and so called index funds, which invest in basically everything and follow the market returns - about 7-10% a year. And if I ever had any doubts in trading, I firmly believed that active investing works since I was a little kid (yes I knew about it back then). And this is where the real fraud comes in.
The whole Wall Street and every broker, every stock exchange in the world are a part of a big fraud. Only about 10-20% of professional fund managers outperform the market in any 15 year period. If you take 30 years, this dwindles to almost nothing, which means that no one can predict the markets. These people have no idea what they are doing. Jim Cramer is pure show-business and has no idea what's going on. Warren Buffet gained his fortune with pure luck, and for every Buffet there are some people who made only a million bucks and countless folks who lost everything.
Wall Street. They have trillions of dollars and use all that money and power and marketing to convince you that there is a way to predict where the stocks are going without being a legal insider or somehow abusing the law. They will make you think you can somehow learn from them where to invest your money on your own or they will make you believe that you should just give it to them and they will manage it for you, because they know how everything works and they can predict the future using past data.
They won't. They don't. They can't. There are studies and statistics to prove it countless times over the span of a 100 years. But they will still charge you exchange fees, brokerage fees and management fees anyway. And they also manipulate certain studies, lobby where and when they need it, and spread misinformation on an unprecedented scale, creating a positive image of themselves. And everyone falls for that. Billions of people around the globe still think it's all legit.
Passive index investing is the last level. You just put your money in the market and wait. Markets will go up at a predetermined rate. If there's a crisis, in 10 years no one will even remember. Markets always go up in the end. But passive index investing can only give you only 7% inflation-adjusted returns a year. Not enough to stop working or even retire early, unless you have a high-paying job in a first-world country. I don't.
Despite all that, to put it simply, this is the only type of investing that works and doesn't involve any kind of fraud or gambling. It's the type of investing that will give you the most money. If you want to know why it is like that and how to do it, just go to financialindependence. They know this stuff better than any other sub. Better than investing, trading or any other sub where non-passive-index investing is still discussed as viable strategy.
Back to me.
My whole being was fucked over, my hopes and dreams and understanding of success and how this world works were shattered. I realized, I had no future in financial industry, because only middlemen make money in there, and I quit college needed to get there. Frankly, I wouldn't want to work there even if I had the opportunity. The pay is good, but the job is boring and I wouldn't want to be a part of this giant scheme anyway. But even if I wanted to go back, I also couldn't. Russia is in a worsening crisis and my parents could no longer afford a US university and now with coronavirus it's even worse. Good thing I quit before it all happened. I learned a valuable lesson and didn't lose that much money for it (only about 10% of my savings). God knows where it would lead me if I continued to be delusional. But now that my last temporary plans for the future were scrapped, I had no idea what to do next.
The future.
With the reality hitting me, I would lie if I say it didn't all come full circle and connect to my past. I realized that I was stupid and not intelligent, because I was living in a made-up world for years now. But even if I were intelligent, pure wit would not give me the success and fortune that I was craving, because trading and active investing were a no-go for me, and business/politics require a very different, extroverted mindset, different education and interest from my own. My only redeeming quality in a hopeless introvert world, my perceived intelligence was taken away from me and rendered useless at the same time.
Besides, failing at that one thing made me insecure about everything and now I think of myself as an average individual. So, if 8 out of 10 businesses fail, I shouldn't start one because I will probably fail. And if most politicians don't get anywhere, why should I bother? If average salary in my country is X, I shouldn't hope for more. I stopped believing in my ability to achieve something. First, I failed at education and now I failed... Professionally? I don't know how to describe it, but my life recently was just an emotional roller coaster. I just feel like a very old person and all I want calmness and stability in my life. I was very lazy before just because, but now I feel like I also don't want to do anything because I feel I would just fail. It feels better now I don't have to worry about trading anymore and I got rid of that load... But I am still miserable and perhaps worse than ever, maybe I just don't understand and feel it because I've become slow and numb. The only positive thing that happened to me recently, is that I finally started losing weight and about 1/4 of the way back to my normal weight.
As for my future, am looking at several possibilities here. So far the parents are allowing my miserable life to continue and they let me live with them and buy me food. I don't need anything else right now. But it can't go on like this forever. The thought of having a mundane low-paying job in this shithole of a country depresses me. I will probably temporarily do English tutoring if there's demand for such work. My old school friends want me to help them in their business and my dad wants me to help him in his, I and probably should, but I feel useless, pathetic and incapable of doing anything of value. And business just seems boring, difficult and too stressful for me right now. Just not my cup of tea.
I am also looking at creative work. I love video games, music, films and other forms of art. I love the games most though, so I am looking into game dev. I don't really like programming, I have learned some during school years, but the pay would probably be higher for a programmer than an creator of any kind of art. However, I think I would enjoy art creation much more, but I don't have any experience in drawing and only some limited experience in music production. And I am not one of these kids who always had a scrapbook with them at school. Having to make another life choice paralyzes me. I am leaning towards art. I don't feel confident in my ability to learn this skill from scratch, but I think it's my best shot at finding a job that would make me happy.
So perhaps, when this whole pandemic is over, I'll go to Europe and get my degree, get a job there and stay. American Dream is dead to me, and Europe is cheaper, closer, safe and comfortable. Just the thing for a person who feels like they are thrice their real age.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. Special thanks if you read the whole thing, it means a whole lot to me, an internet stranger. But even if no one reads it, feels good to get this off my chest. I actually cried during writing some parts. Holy shit, this might be the longest and smartest looking thing my dumbed down head could manage to generate since college. I hope that you're having a great day. Stay healthy and be careful during this fucking pandemic. All the best.

Introducing the IBIS Brokers affiliate program

Attn: Mods, I couldn't find anything against this type of post in the rules, but feel free to ping me and I'll amend/take down this post as per your feedback.
Hi Guys;
As brief intro, my name is Bruce, and I'm a team member at IBIS Brokers (, which is a spin-off from ICO Launch Malta ( one of the larger Blockchain development companies in Europe. IBIS is at its core a large block OTC trading desk, however, we are days away from launching a retail product built with affiliates such as yourselves in mind.
In a nutshell we've developed a simple embeddable widget which would allow any site owner to sell cryptocurrency to users on their site via credit/debit card. All the KYC/AML, licensing, fraud checks, chargebacks etc are handled and shouldered by us, affiliates simply decide what margin they would like to add on to the user fees (Between 0-5%) and will receive their commissions in BTC at the end of every month. The beauty of this solution is that it offers real value to your audience (the convenience of purchasing crypto with credit card, rather than bank wires) whilst letting you keep the user on your site.
There are more details here: and I look forward to answering any questions you may have about the program/product.

SpaceGold (SGOLD) IEO Announcement

(coming soon.... date will be announced on our website)
SpaceGold Corporation is an off-world mining company based in the United States that engineers proven patented hardware solutions to commercially and autonomously mine Asteroids for precious metals. SpaceGold Corporation was founded by rocket scientist William Mook and metallurgical engineer Hamidreza Jalilian. We have teamed up with other engineers from Boeing, Lockheed Martin, NASA and TriVector Services to design, build, launch and operate satellites that can mine and refine Gold from Asteroids that periodically cross paths with Earth.
The project is being funded through a new ERC20 Ethereum based token called SpaceGold, ticker SGOLD. While cryptocurrency isn’t unique anymore, this token is actually fully redeemable for 240 milligrams of gold after the first 70 metric tons are delivered back to Earth, making it the first series of its kind. For every satellite we send up, there will be a new SGOLD series to follow. Alternatively, SGOLD can be swapped for equity in the total value of the Asteroid reserves we own. SpaceGold Corporation is expected to be valued at a whopping $44 billion by the end of our second year of production.
SpaceGold is registered as a money services provider under FinCen. SGOLD trades at .0041 eth and rises and falls with the price of Ether. We anticipate SGOLD to start trading on our full valuation upon our first successful return.

Newscrypto vision and goals

Newscrypto vision and goals
We are aware of the situation that many people are unfamiliar with cryptocurrency trading and probably had a bad experience with it, especially after January 2018. Most of them have never invested in any other asset or stock as they lack financial education to do so. They are influenced by the rumors and media outlet, but soon find out that it is not as simple as it seems📈
Based on our research, most people do not know how, where or when to buy a crypto asset. Crypto exchanges without proper knowledge are misleading and quite hard to understand, especially charts, which are a crucial tool in trading. That is why people end up blindly investing and rely on pure luck to save them
This is where our Newscrypto platform comes in. In our opinion, Newscrypto is the most advanced project to date as we aspire to give our users the Edge in comparison to other traders by providing them with all the knowledge needed to start or improve their trading career👍
Nr.1 Crypto Platform 👉

Swap Monero to public coins (BTC, ETH, USDT) private, with no kyc. Trusted and Trustless setup (long read)

Hey guys! Boogaav is here. For the past two days, there were several topics about our implementation of BTC <> XMR private swap. Since the discussion was quite hot around this. I want to make a more technical post about it:

Part 1. Intro & pDEX

The SWAP happening on the pDEX - private, cross-chain DEX, which built on top of the Incognito chain - a platform of decentralized privacy coins. All trades and traders benefit from complete confidentiality:

Part 2. Bridges

So to make the swap possible, both chains Bitcoin and Monero must be connected through the bridges with the Incognito chain.

The current implementation of bridges between Incognito & Bitcoin, Incognito, and Monero is trusted, which means tokens hold on the trusted custodian. Even though it trusted set up it's already working product. BTC <> XMR liquidity pool has around 20k USD in BTC and XMR.

If you found the idea of a private swap between XMR <> BTC, XMR <> ETH, XMR <> USDT interesting, here is an explanation of how we plan to implement a trustless setup when you don't need to trust Incognito or any other third party. We work on two different implementations:
  1. Trustless set up for chains that support smart-contracts (Etehreum, NEO, ONT). Documentation is here.
  2. Trustless set up chains that do not support smart-contract (Monero, Bitcoin, Binance). Documentation is here.

Our goal is to build such trustless implementation when anyone can do SWAP between private and public coins.
If you have constructive feedback regarding our research or implementation, I would love to discuss it and find a way to make it better.
If you want to be part of this researching group, we are always open to help.
I am looking forward to your feedback, guys.

Weekly Update: Welcome $CALL to ParJar, McAfeeSwap by Switch, Fantom + COTI, MetaMorphPro roadmap... – 20 Dec - 26 Dec'19

Captain Parachute: Even though we’re all away…we digitally got together for a very special Parachute holiday photo
Sup folks! Here’s your week at Parachute + partners (20 Dec - 26 Dec'19):

Richi hosted a movie trivia in TTR for a 25k $PAR prize pool. While going through the ParJar stats this week, Cap found that FlareofFlame is in the clear lead at tipping with 33k tips so far. Whoa! The College Football Bowl Season kicked off this week with a 100k $PAR pool and 21 participants. Best of Luck! This week's creative #donkeycronicles prompt by Jason was based on Doc Vic's latest episode of #parachutetwistedhospital: "Draw this story in either a single picture or a comic book style" and win some cool $PAR. Neat! Jason also hosted 3 more prompts for Christmas: draw an unorthodox Christmas scene (#donkeychristmas), share your crazy Christmas traditions (#crazychristmas) and send a photo of your holiday decorations (#happyholidays). Remember the recent Parachute World Map survey? Here are the results:
So cool to see Parachuters distributed across the globe
Andy put up a riddle for Parachuters for 50k $PAR: "Today starts my Half-Adam Sandler. 25000 PAR + (25000 from Jason) to first person to get the reference. Clue : Tis the season, think theaters, animation". Travis cracked this one. The answer is 4 days of Christmas. Derived from “8 crazy nights”. Thank you for the shoutout Rogel. And congrats on the win! This week’s Parena saw Nico’s Anteater beat Jimpanze’s Unicorn in the finale to take home a cool 25k $PAR prize. Several new assets were added to ParJar this week including $CALL. Great intro video too. Awesome feature on Yahoo Finance as well. Plus, the TTR crew picked up a project on the decline and are trying something interesting to see if they can bring it back from hibernation - $DYT. It was listed on ParJar as well. Welcome to the fam! In this week’s #FPL update by LordHades, we continue to have LH, NovelCloud and Alexis in the lead. For a change, Alexis hosted a Champions League wager in TTR. Guess Doc Vic needs a break sometimes to run the ParachuteWarZone. The #wholesomewed task for this week involved talking about presents we gave or received during the holidays.
Epic creation for #donkeychristmas Carlos!
The Week 51 aXpire recap video by Joakim can be seen here. Like clockwork, the weekly 20k $AXPR burn went ahead as usual. This was the last burn event for 2019. Two great article published by the crew this week covered the topics of accurate legal billing (and how Bilr helps) and expense management by fund administrators (and how Resolvr fits in). Koinsquare co-founder Tiziano Tridico featured 2gether and its card in his latest video for his Italian fans. In this week’s XIO Discussions (that included a ton of #XIOSocial ones too), Citizens talked about democratized startup recruitment, Citizen AMAs, newly discovered blockchain startups and the Reserve Protocol project. Engaged Citizens can find themselves featured on the updated XSI Leaderboard. Click here for an early sneak peek into the automated portal under development. Uniswap fans will be thrilled. The XLP has now crossed 30k USD in liquidity. Sweet! ETHOS’ Voyager app will now have interest earning on $ETH, $LTC and $BCH from next week. Switch-backed McAfeeSwap was released this week. It is a DEX aggregator that supports automated swaps using best rates. Some of the liquidity sources for McAfeeSwap include Bancor and Uniswap. Blockonomi released a featured article explaining XAR Network, the first mainnet based on Fantom. Fantom announced a partnership with COTI to work on a payment solution for Fantom-based networks and to make CSDTs (collateralised stable debt tokens) usable. Click here for an ELI5 on CSDTs. Michael (Chen) made a video to explain how to swap BEP2 $FTM to XAR Network $FTM. And another one on minting CSDTs and staking on the XAR Network. The Opera Mainnet will be launching next week. Michael (Kong) shared the Fantom journey and what it took to get this far. If you haven’t read up on Opera yet, you can have a look here. Michael (Chen) wrote a bit about the Fantom Community Policy which shares a lot of commonalities with the Parachute ethos.
